New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The number of coronavirus cases has been increasing at a rapid pace in India from the last few days. According to the Union Health Ministry, number of COVID-19 cases in India has surged to 1,51,767 while death toll stands at 4,337. Of the total number of cases, 60,490 have recovered from the deadly infection. In India, Maharashtra remains to be the worst-hit state with more than 54,000 cases so far and 1,792 deaths. Tamil Nadu, with 17,728 cases and 127 deaths is at the second place, while Gujarat with 14,821 cases and 915 deaths is the worst-affected state of India.

Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday said that the fatality rate in India is one of the lowest in the world at 2.87 per cent. The ministry credited the lockdown, timely identification and proper management of the coronavirus cases for the low fatality rate. "COVID-19 fatality rate reduced from 3.3% on April 15 to 2.87% which is among the lowest in the world," said Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry.

9:25 am: Dyeing units in Surat have resumed operations with 25-30% staff,amid fourth phase of lockdown. Paresh Chaudhary, owner of a dyeing unit says,"We'are following all govt guidelines;regular temperature checks being done,use of masks&sanitisers compulsory&social distancing followed"
